Exile to the Stars is the first volume in The Alarai Chronicles Series, and as such is seminal. It is the beginning. It contains the essence of the series and sets the scene for books that follow. In addition Exile contains critical information that will not become evident until the fifth volume in the series. It's right under the reader's nose in Exile, but otherwise remains dormant.
